International Women's Day (2015) - "Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity “
International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.
About Women’s Day
International Women's Day (IWD), also called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. The focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's achievements. It celebrates womanhood and pays tribute to the indomitable spirit of women across the globe.
This has helped make the commemoration as a rallying point to build support for women's rights and participation in every nook and corner of the society. Increasingly, International Women's Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role and is a standalone architect of society .In every field, women is a step ahead and move shoulder to shoulder with men.
Women are real fighters and can take everything in their stride. From the past episodes and experiences, ODA had taken the initiative for women security by issuing pepper spray to all female staff in ODA. We in fact spread awareness on groups at Client sites and at ODA premises. We made use of separate group emailids for women to update on preventive measures to be taken while being alone or in isolation.
ODA ODC (Gurgaon) feels pride in having 34 as female key strength. The percentage of women staff is more than 30% in other Client sites. The International Woman’s Day theme for 2015 is ‘Make It Happen’ with a dedicated hashtag for women connect. All the senior members including the CEO, are women members in ODA. Women in ODA takes the lead and professionally heads with work life balance.
The celebrations took place in ODA premises on jovial note. Various charts, posters were placed at the entrance for start of the day. Women were greeted with pink balloons at their work stations. All the male members were handed over the Beautiful ‘WomenDay Card’ to pen down their feelings for Women. These thoughts were shared at the time of celebrations.
The lead responsibility to host the show was with Ms. Soumya. She explained all the games in length. We had few competitions wrt female attire and overall personality orientation followed by gift distribution. All women were felt special with welcome tribute with open hands by ODA HR Team. The participants voluntarily came up with zeal and involve themselves excitedly. The unanimous voting amongst the crowd declared the winners and were presented the gifts from Ms. Sabina Tanwar, Global Head (HR) end.
Many more came up and share some beautiful messages with us on the day.
We had an interactive session that includes females to come one by one and share their fantastic experiences with ODA. To name few, Ms. Anisha Chowdhary, Ms. Latika Mehta, Ms. Garima from HR Team came up to discuss their wide experience ranging from their first day of joining till today. ODA HR team distributed the cards to all the women to write few words like traits for the other women. This exchange of ideas helps all of us acquainted of each other and made the communication effective.
The entire arena was rejuvenating with the glory of womenhood. Ms.Sabina Tanwar,Global Head (HR) mentioned, “Female are strong creature of God. They are very bold and impressive.
